The Voice 2012 Battle Rounds continued Monday night and so did the coaches’ steal. While the performances tonight weren’t as exciting as last Monday night, there were some nice solid performances. Let’s take a look at the battles.

Julio Cesar Castillo vs. Terisa Griffin, “Conga.” First of all, terrible song choice. No idea what Blake was thinking. But Julio and Terisa made the best of it. Terisa had a fantastic energy, but I feel like she was pretty flat. Or at least didn’t get to the pitch she was intending. Julio’s rich tone stole the show for me, I must say. My Pick: Julio. Blake’s Pick: Julio. Cee Lo goes in for the steal so Terisa is now Team Cee Lo.

Dez Duron vs. Paulina, “Just The Way You Are.” I found Paulina kid of irritating. And she took too many liberties with the song. Dez stayed true to the song while still making it his own. Paulina sounded like she was forcing her sound on us. Dez was more natural. My choice here is obvious. My Pick: Dez. Christina’s Pick: Dez

Benji vs. Sam Jones, “You Give Love a Bad Name.” Oddly enough, if I closed my eyes, I couldn’t tell the two singers apart on this song. But have rich, effortless tones. Sam, I thought has a more rock sound, but then Benji busted out a couple wails that rivaled the greatest of rock stars. This was a tough call. My Pick: Benji. Adam’s Pick: Sam. No one stole Benji. Bummer. Thought for sure someone would’ve.

Nicholas David vs. Todd Kessler, “She’s Gone.” Both of these guys are great singers. I really liked Nicholas’ passion. But I think I prefer Todd’s style and tone a little more. My Pick: Todd. Cee Lo’s Pick: Nicholas.

Lelia Broussard vs. Suzanna Choffel, “Dog Days Are Gone.” Both singers have similar sound. They’re both going for that unique, indy sound that I tend to steer away from. But this time around I didn’t mind it so much. I think Suzanna had more control and power in her performance though. My Pick: Suzanna. Blake’s Pick: Suzanna.

Josselyn Rivera vs. Sylvia Yacoub, “Best Thing I Never Had.” OK, I wasn’t very impressed with either. Why was this the final performance of the night? Maybe I’m just being moody. I guess I would’ve picked Sylvia? Christina’s Pick: Sylvia. Adam and Blake go in for the steal. Josselyn joins Team Adam.
