The Voice 2012 Top 24: Week 1 Results Show Recap
The Voice 2012 said goodbye to four contestants tonight – two from Team Christina and two from Team Blake – based on America’s votes.
The Bottom 3 from each team got the chance to sing one more time with hopes that their coaches would save them. Each coach can only save one of their team members.
Carson gets right down to business as he starts revealing the The Voice Top 3 contestants from Team Blake. They are: Erin Willett, Jermaine Paul and RaeLynn. That means the Bottom 3 are Charlotte Sometimes, Naia Kete and Jordis Unga.
For Team Christina, the Top 3 are Jesse Campbell, Lindsay Pavao and Chris Mann. That means the Bottom 3 are Ashley De La Rosa, Sera Hill and Moses Stone.
First up to sing for their life is Naia Kete. She takes on Beyonce’s “If I Were a Boy.” For some reason she’s barely singing the song. I can’t even hear what she’s “singing.” I doubt what she did tonight was enough to save her.
Charlotte Sometimes takes on “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls and it turns out to be another mild attempt. She doesn’t try any harder than Naia and I find that very odd. And here I go again with this complaint, but I can’t stand that gimmicky sound most of the girls in this contest have
Finally, Jordis Unga takes the stage with “Wild Horses” by the Rolling Stones. Finally, someone is actually singing for her life. The performance was strong and emotional and clearly the best of the three.
My Pick for Safety: Jordis
Blake’s Pick for Safety: Jordis
Up first for Team Christina is Ashley De La Rosa. She took on “Paris (Ooh La La)” and I’m mixed on the performance. I felt like it was a little all over the place, but I think that had a lot to do with nerves. She was definitely better last night, but not exactly bad tonight. Just a bit boring.
Sera Hill took the stage next with “Vision of Love” and I’m pretty confused at this point because she seemed to not really be trying. I was just kind of bored once again. No one seems to be fighting for this.
The final performance of the night was Moses Stone with “Break Even (Falling to Pieces).” Another mediocre one. I think America really got this Bottom 3 right. There were moments where the performance was good but others, not so much. And like the other two, I was bored.
My Pick for Safety: Ashely
Christina’s Pick for Safety: Ashley
