THE VOICE Episode 5 Preview

It’s time for the Battle Rounds part 3 with the upcoming The Voice episode 5. NBC’s got their weekly episode preview below so be sure to give it a watch.

This week we’ve got Kelsey Rey taking on Tori & Taylor from Cee Lo’s team. Adam pits Devon Barley against Rebecca Loebe. We’ll see Dia Frampton battle Serabee for Blake’s team. Finally Christina selects… heck, I can’t figure out for sure who it will be (the clips move too fast!) but it could be Raquel Castro and Julia Eason. Maybe. That’s just my guess from the 2 secs of side shots.

This week’s episode will still be Tuesday at 10PM. Just a few more weeks before they move it down to 9PM starting June 7th.

Random Moment of the Night from THE VOICE Episode 4

Say, Nakia, that’s a pretty interesting choice to wear unnecessary, but matching sunglasses with your outfit. Where’d you get an idea like that? Oh, wait, nevermind.

Exhibit A: Cee Lo Green’s outfit in episode 4

Exhibit B: Nakia’s outfit in episode 4

Does anyone else see this ending with a rabbit in a pot of boiling water?

Watch THE VOICE Online: Episode 4 – Battle Rounds

Once again, we’ve got the full version of last night’s episode 4 of The Voice on NBC. I really like how NBC puts the show online, unlike some networks *cough* FOX *cough*. Hopefully they’ll keep this up so we can continue to watch online as well.

If you’re too anxious to see who wins each round then skip over to my post on The Voice results for this week and then come back and take in the performances here.

THE VOICE Episode 4 Results – Battle Rounds Part 2

The second round of the Battle Rounds on The Voice is now over. Here are the results from episode 4.

  • Team Cee Lo Green: Nakia and Tje Austin perform “Closer”: Nakia is chosen by Cee Lo and Tje is sent home.
  • Team Blake Shelton: Elenowen and Jared Blake compete with “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”: Elenowen is eliminated when Jared Blake is picked.
  • Team Adam Levine: Angela Wolff faces off against Javier Colon singing “Stand by Me”: Adam decides to keep Javier in the competition. Angela is cut.
  • Team Christina Aguilera: Beverly McClellan and Justin Grennan sang “Baba O’Riley”: Beverly McClellan wins the round while Justin is eliminated.

I was disappointed with Cee Lo’s decision. I know Nakia is a popular figure on the show, but I really preferred Tje’s smooth voice to McGruff tonight.

Jared Blake was definitely the right choice for Shelton. Elenowen was great during the Blind Auditions, but this week they were outdone.

Great call by Adam to keep Javier. Angela is obviously talented, but blends in to the crowd for me while Javier stood out.

Christina’s choice might have been the toughest because I found neither Justin nor Beverly to be very impressive. I guess that goes back to why did Christina pick either of them during the Blind Auditions?

What do you think of the coaches’ decisions for The Voice Episode 4?

THE VOICE Episode 4 Preview

Tuesday on The Voice episode 4 the Battle Rounds continue and it doesn’t look like things will be getting any easier any time soon for the coaches.

From the brief clips it looks like we’ll see Nakia and Tje from Cee Lo’s team, Beverly and Justin from Christina’s team, Elenowen and Jared from Blake’s team, and Javier and Angela from Adam’s team. Tough choices! Any picks from their previous performances?

THE VOICE Expands To 2-Hour Live Shows

Looks like NBC might be embracing The Voice with a few good moves to help the blooming show really grow. The network just announced live shows will now run two hours starting June 7th once the series gets past the current set of Battle Rounds

Owing to the strong performance of NBC’s new series “The Voice,” NBC will offer expanded two-hour live episodes of the vocal competition show beginning June 7 (9-11 p.m. ET) following original episodes of America’s top-rated summer show “America’s Got Talent” (8-9 p.m. ET).

After the “battle” rounds of “The Voice” — which will air on Tuesdays (10-11 p.m. ET) from May 10 through May 31 – the series will then broadcast live two-hour episodes on Tuesdays from June 7 through June 28.

So they’re shifting around America’s Got Talent and making room for The Voice. Not too shabby. NBC also takes a jab at American Idol by mentioning the new show is the #3 entertainment series behind only to the two Idol episodes. That’s impressive, but more so if they can maintain it.

NBC doesn’t explicitly state it, but they only mention air dates through the end of June so the premiere season may be over rather quickly. Good timing if so because the Big Brother 13 premiere arrives shortly after that!

Tyler Robinson And Life After THE VOICE

After getting eliminated this week during his Battle Round with Patrick Thomas, Tyler Robinson did the interview circuit and left some pretty good impressions. Reality Blitz landed a thorough interview with Tyler and talked with him about his experiences on the show, what lead him to audition, what’s happened since he was eliminated, and even about coming out to his dad on national television.

Here a few excerpts from the interview, but you can read and listen to the whole thing at

On Tyler’s overall experience on ‘The Voice’: “It was absolutely amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience in my life. Truthfully, I’ve done more in these past few months than I’ve done, probably, in the past two years of my life. So, it’s something that’s really, really exciting. I’ve made life-long friends that I couldn’t have asked for better. And it’s truthfully been a really amazing experience.”

If he was surprised he was cut over Patrick Thomas: “You know, I just have to take it for what it is and all I know is that I gave a really, really good performance. And I would rather leave the show on a high note than leave because I didn’t do well. So, I couldn’t be happier actually because I’ve been getting a lot of phone calls. Everything is good right now.”

Find out what else Tyler Robinson had to say after being eliminated this week.

THE VOICE Episode 3 Ratings Take A Steep Drop

What do you do when you’ve got a great new show with high initial ratings and reactions and you want to help it grow? Why you move it to the latest possible time slot of the night, right? NO! Geez, NBC.

Just like I predicted when I hear this terrible timeshift idea, The Voice episode 3 ratings took a plunge with a 19% drop from the previous week. Episode 2 aired at 9PM while episode 3 started at 10PM.

I don’t know about you, but I watched the first 15 minutes last night then caught the rest this morning on DVR. Look how cranky I am when I stay up until 10:15PM. Just imagine if I had watched the whole thing!

Come on, NBC. I like the show a lot. It’s got potential to outshine its singing competition. But give it a better timeslot already. Heck, give it 2 timeslots. Surely you can fill 2 hours a week, right?
