THE VOICE Episode 7 Live Performances Round 1

Tonight’s first live show of The Voice features performances from Team Christina and Team Blake (next week we’ll get the other two). It’s a full two-hour show (I was only expecting 60 minutes) so get ready for some serious fluff and filler tonight.

The show starts out with a group performance of a medley of Queen songs and while it was entertaining to see these four artists perform together I’m not sure it had quite the polished finish I expected. Side note: fire Wardrobe for putting Aguilera in that outfit (see picture above).

If you’re not sure what to do for your favorite then read up on how to vote for The Voice. Lots of options for voting, but only 10 votes per method, and you’ll be able to keep doing that until next Monday morning at 10AM.

Team Christina performances:

  • Raquel Castro – Blow – 1-855-864-2301
  • Beverly McClellan – I’m The Only One – 1-855-864-2303
  • Lily Elise – Big Girls Don’t Cry – 1-855-864-2306
  • Frenchie Davis – When Love Takes Over – 1-855-864-2308

And yes, Adam Levine managed to yell out “Beverly, you’re so good I shit myself.” Well, it was definitely live since he got that through.

Team Christina squeezed in a performance of Lady Marmalade and it’s better than the coaches’ Queen performance at the start of the show.

Team Blake performances:

  • Jared Blake – Use Somebody – 1-855-864-2302
  • Dia Frampton – Heartless – 1-855-864-2304
  • Xenia – Price Tag – 1-855-864-2305
  • Patrick Thomas – I Hope You Dance – 1-855-864-2307

What was with Jared Blake serenading some random woman at the end of his performance and then joking that he was going to get to know her? I thought this was the family guy doing all this for his kids, not trying to get laid.

Team Blake performed This Love to which Levine gave two thumbs up. Not as good as Team Christina. Not nearly as good.

Don’t forget you can keep voting until next Monday morning, so get to it!

How To Vote For THE VOICE

Update for 2012: Check out The Voice Season 2 voting methods.

So we’re ready for The Voice live competitions tonight on NBC at 9PM ET/PT, but there have been few details on how the surrounding voting would work. Most of those questions are answered in the video below.

You’ll be able to vote on NBC’s site, using NBC Live (another website from NBC), by phone, and this last one is really cool because every time you download one of tonight’s performances from iTunes that will also count as a vote. I bet American Idol is wishing they thought of that one!

The limit is ten votes for each of those methods so choose wisely.

The question not answered in the video below is what’s the time frame for voting. Heck, I’d even like to know when we’ll find out the results because right now it seems like it’ll be a full week before we get that news…

Update: Voting for The Voice will be open until next Monday at 10AM.

THE VOICE Goes Live Tonight with Coaches Performing Queen

Finally. We’re through the Blind Auditions and the Battle Rounds on The Voice. Starting tonight we’ve got a month of live competition shows where the remaining sixteen singers will duke it out for the chance at the title honor.

To kick things off the four judges coaches will perform a medley or Queen hits. Apparently they’re doing three songs which seems like a lot when you only have an hour, but okay. Levine, Shelton, Green, and Aguilera will be performing “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions.”

Don’t forget the show moves up an hour tonight to 9PM ET/PT and the premiere season finale of The Voice has been set for June 29th, so enjoy it while you can!

Update: NBC just released a rehearsal video for the coaches performance tonight. Just ignore the closing title screen that says the show comes on at 10PM. It airs at 9PM now. Sheesh, NBC.

THE VOICE Season Finale Date Set

The Voice season finale will be held on June 29th, says NBC. That leaves us with just four more weeks to finish out the live competition rounds.

Next Tuesday (June 7th) we’ll get the first round of the live competitions though I’m not sure if we have to wait a week or not to get the results. Unless there’s a Wednesday show next week, which hasn’t been announced, then I guess waiting a week for results is the plan.

Good news is that NBC will air an extra results show the week before the Voice finale, so at least by the third week of live competitions we’ll get faster turn around on what happened.

Any favorites you think will make it to the very end?

THE VOICE Episode 6 Results – Battle Rounds Part 4

The fourth and final round of the Battle Rounds on The Voice is now over, but if you missed it then watch episode 6 online. Here are the results from The Voice episode 6.

  • Team Adam Levine: Jeff Jenkins and Casey Desmond sing “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”: Adam picks Jeff over Casey.
  • Team Blake Shelton: Sara Oromchi and Xenia perform “I’ll Stand By You”: Blake goes with Xenia and sends Sarah home.
  • Team Christina Aguilera: Cherie Oakley and Lily Elise sing “Since U Been Gone”: Lilly takes the round.
  • Team Cee Lo Green: Curtis Grimes and Emily Valentine perform “Need You Now”: Cee Lo selects Curtis over Emily.

Great choice by Adam. Jeff has excellent talent and could go far here.

Yikes. Blake didn’t have a good choice here, but I guess that’s he’s own fault. All the other judges agreed that it was a disaster.

Cherie and Lily brought some energy back to the show after the disaster that was Blake’s round. I was a little surprised Lily took the round. Not that she wasn’t good, but after that whole Reba connection I thought Cherie would get it.

Cee Lo’s round was pretty good but I wasn’t buying the fabricated romance between Curtis and Emily. Good choice though for Cee Lo to take Curtis over Emily.

That’s it. The teams have been set and the next step on The Voice will be the live competitions between the different groups starting next Tuesday when the show moves from 10PM to 9PM.

THE VOICE Episode 6 Preview

The final installment of The Voice Battle Rounds is coming up with Episode 6 on Tuesday. Check out NBC’s preview video below and see if you can guess who makes it through. I’m hoping the judges’ picks are better than they were last week.

After this week’s Battle Round the show will move on to live competitions at a new time, 9PM instead of 10PM.

THE VOICE Episode 5 Results – Battle Rounds Part 3

The third round of the Battle Rounds on The Voice is now over, but if you missed it then watch episode 5 online here. Here are the results from episode 5.

  • Team Christina Aguilera: Raquel Castro and Julia Eason sang “Only Girl (In the World)”: Raquel wins and Julia is eliminated.
  • Team Blake Shelton: Dia Frampton faced off against Serabee with “Can’t Hurry Love”: Blake calls the round for Dia and sends home Serabee.
  • Team Adam Levine: Devon Barley and Rebecca Loebe sang “Creep”: Adam struggles but finally picks Devon over Rebecca.
  • Team Cee Lo Green: Kelsey Rey took on Tori & Taylor with “Unwritten”: Cee Lo decides on Tori & Taylor and lets Kelsey go.

Aguilera’s call was pretty easy. Both were good, but Raquel just had the edge the whole way through.

I’m surprised by Blake’s choice. Serabee might not have been someone I’d listen to, but I thought she was levels above Dia.

Really disappointed with Adam’s pick of Devon over Rebecca. I thought Rebecca had a lot more style as an artist than Devon who just didn’t seem as strong of a singer. I was looking forward to Rebecca’s performances in the live rounds, but that won’t happen now.

Wow. Another shocker. Cee Lo drops Kelsey Rey in favor of Tori & Taylor. I’m really, really surprised. Tori & Taylor have that cutesy, innocent thing going on while Kelsey knew how to really sing. Very disappointed in that choice, Cee Lo.
