The Voice 2012 Battle Rounds: After the Battle Interviews

The Voice 2012 Battle Rounds kicked into high gear this week, and I’m going to continue boasting that this is my favorite part of the show (actually my favorite part of any singing show. Love this format) And while some of the battles resulted in an eliminated singer, they still took some time to stop and talk about their experience alongside the person who just knocked them out of the game.

Cody Belew beat Domo during Tuesday night’s episode. Find out what the pair had to say after their battle. Who knows you might see them sing together again — at the Grammys. Hey, they said it, not me.

We didn’t get to see much of the battle between Charlie Rey and Rudy Parris. So it was nice to get a look at what they thought of the battle and what went into Blake’s decision to keep Rudy over Charlie.

The battle that had everyone talking (including me about how much I didn’t like it, but I’m not in the majority here) was Melanie and Caitlin’s version of “Lights.” Find out what they had to say after what some called a show-stopping battle. Also find out what Caitlin thought of the steal being used on her.

The Voice 2012 Battle Rounds Part 2 Recap: More Pairs Face Off

the-voice-2012-cody-domo

The Voice 2012 Battle Rounds continued Tuesday night in a faster, more condensed episode. Tonight wasn’t as existing as the night before, but it did include at least two really strong battles.

What I really didn’t like were the two shortened battles where we didn’t even get to see them perform entire songs. That’s what happens, I guess, when you supersize your teams. On to the recap.

Team Cee Lo’s Cody Belew vs. Domo, “Telephone.” First of all, I thought this was going to be a ridiculous song choice designed to ensure Domo a win and Cody a dismissal. Domo even said she knows the song like the back of her hand. But I was underestimated Cody, his huge talent and that underlying sass. He handled the song just as well as she did and in then end deserved more credit because it was a bigger challenge for him. My pick: Easily Cody. Cee Lo’s pick: Cody.

Team Christina’s Aquile vs. Nathalie Hernandez, “You Give Me Something.” This battle wasn’t as cut and dry for me as the last one. Both of these singers are fantastic for different reasons. Aquile is effortless and polished. Nathalie is raw and sweet. Their performance was very enjoyable. My pick: Aquile, with many hopes that someone enlists the steal. Christina’s pick: Aquile. Sadly, no one steals.

The Voice 2012 Battle Rounds Continue Tonight

the-voice-battle-rounds-part-2

Last night The Voice 2012 Battle Rounds kicked off and I’d be willing to say, it was the best episode of the season. But then again, I love the Battle Rounds. Tonight more singing pairs will battle it out and the coaches will have the opportunity to steal more eliminated players.

Are you just tuning in to The Voice 2012 and want to know how the Battle Rounds work? Here you go:

The battle rounds will cut the 64 artists to the top 40. During the battle rounds, coaches pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience. After the vocal face-off, coaches must then choose between their two artists to determine who will continue on in the competition.

A new twist to the format this season will allow each coach to be able to steal two artists from any other coaches’ team once they have been eliminated from that respective coach’s line-up. At the end of the battle rounds, each coach will have 10 members remaining on their team, eight original members and two stolen from other teams as they head into the knockout rounds and are one step closer to winning the competition.

What did you think of last night’s battles? Are you ready for more tonight? Be sure to check back a little later for the full recap of tonight’s battles.

The Voice 2012 Battle Rounds Part 1 Recap: The Coaches Use The Steal!

the-voice-2012-battle-rounds-team-adam

The Voice 2012 Battle Rounds kicked off Monday night and I have to say this is by far my favorite part of this show. I love the battle aspect, the advisers aspect and I especially love the new steal option.

I tend to not like auditions and then get bored with the live shows, so I’m really going to enjoy the next couple of weeks with the Battles. Let’s take a look at how the Battles played out.

Team Blake’s Casey Muessigmann vs. Terry McDermott, “Carry On Wayward Son.” Terry’s crystal-clear pitch and rocker vibe sold me right away. Casey is a great signer with control and range, however. But in the end, I think Terry has a more interesting sound.  My pick: Terry. Blake’s Pick: Terry.

Team Adam’s Bryan Keith vs. Collin McLoughlin, “Santeria.” Bryan’s performance was effortless and his tone was spot-on. And his stage presence was top-notch. Collin has an amazing sound and personality, but his stage presence is iffy. He seems kind of awkward. This was an incredibly tough call. I think I’d pick Bryan BUT only because I’d be sure one of the other coaches would steal Collin. Because he deserves to be in this. Adam’s Pick: Bryan. Blake and Cee Lo go in for the steal. Collin picks Blake.

Sneak Peek: The Voice 2012 Battle Rounds Start Tonight!

the-voice-2012-battle-rounds

Tonight on The Voice 2012, the Battle Rounds take off as the coaches put their team members head to head in singing duels.

In case you need a Battle Rounds refresher, here’s how it works (with a new twist explained):

The battle rounds will whittle down the 64 artists to the top 40.

We’ll also get our first look at the coaches’ advisors: Billie Joe Armstrong (Team Christina), Rob Thomas (Team Cee Lo), Mary J. Blige (Team Adam) and Michael Buble (Team Blake).

Below, we’ve got a sneak peek of one of tonight’s battles. From Team Cee Lo, it’s Amanda and Trevin singing “Vision of Love.”

The Voice 2012: More After The Blind Auditions Interviews

The-Voice-Dez-Duron

The Voice 2012 Blind Auditions wrapped up this week and next week we head into the Battle Rounds. But before we get to the  Battle Rounds, we’re taking a closer look at some of  those singers that are set to do battle and what they had to say after their initial Blind Auditions.

Charlie Ray had to choose between Adam and Blake and he talks to Christina Milian about why he went with Blake. He also talks about his father being his greatest inspiration.

Dez didn’t make it on last season and it pushed him to work harder, come back and try again. And this time he had to actually choose between the judges. He decided to go with Christina. Find out why he went with Team Xtina.

Laura Vivas delivered a powerful performance on the stage and then delivered a booty pop in her post-audition interview. Spunky! She’s now Team Christina, but she had something to say to Cee Lo.

The Voice 2012: After The Blind Audition Interviews

the-voice-cody-belew

The Voice 2012 Blind Auditions came to a close this week and next week we’ll see members of each team face off in the Battle Rounds.

But before we get to there, we’re taking a closer look at some of our favorite singers and what they had to say after their Blind Auditions.

First up is Cody Belew. He was the last Blind Audition we saw when it was down to only Cee Lo as a possible coach. Luckily for Cody, Cee Lo was interested. And even more lucky, Cee Lo was Cody’s first choice anyway. Find out what else this guy had to say about his experience. He’s a lot of fun. I hope he sticks around for the live shows.

Nathalie Hernandez went with Christina but she had two other options. Find out why she decided to go with Xtina instead of Adam or Cee Lo.

Last season Adam thought Sam James sounded too much like Gavin DeGraw to make it on the show, but this season Adam was the only coach who turned around. So he’s on Team Adam. Find out what Sam had to say about that interesting turn of events.

The Voice 2012 Blind Auditions: Episode 8 Recap

the-voice-2012-cody-belew

The Voice 2012 finished its Blind Auditions rounds on Monday night when the judges each finished building their teams by filling their final few spots.

Maybe I was just in a bad mood or something, but they sure didn’t save the best auditions for last. I just wasn’t very impressed with many of the performers. I mean there were clear standouts, but there wasn’t much to stand out from. I think we’re all just ready to move on from the The Voice Blind Auditions.

The Standouts

Nathalie Hernandez: I think Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera jumped the gun when they both immediately hit their buttons on this one. While she was a decent singer, I don’t think she ended up being as good as they thought. And she sang a Taylor Swift song better than Taylor Swift sings it, but that’s not saying much. She went with Team Christina but I think we can expect her to exit in the Battle Rounds.

Caitlin Michelle: Cliche cliche cliche. The bangs. The two-tine hair. The Florence + The Machine song. So three seasons ago. Can’t female singers find a new gimmick? Especially now that even the guys are picking up on the weird-voice-hipster-look thing. Ugh. Anyway, she has a nice tone, just not a ton of control. Or maybe that was nerves. At any rate, she’s now on Team Adam.

The Voice 2012 Episode 8: Blind Auditions Continue

the-voice-2012-blake-shelton-blind-audtions

Tonight The Voice Season 3 Blind Auditions wrap up tonight as the coaches have almost completed building their teams this season.

Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine each have only two spots left on their The Voice 2012 teams. Tonight they’ll fill those spots and prepare for the Battle Rounds that are set to begin next week.

With the Blind Auditions coming to a close tonight, tomorrow night’s episode will be a look back at the past couple of weeks in a “Best of the Blind Auditions” retrospective. Which sounds totally bogus to me, but I’ll save my critique for the actual show.

Be sure to check back later for a full recap of tonight’s show and to find out who the final eight singers will be! Whose team are you rooting for? You think Blake or Adam can do it again this season or is it Cee Lo’s or Christina’s time to turn out a winner?
